The Federal Government’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda (ATA) has been set in motion through various interventions aimed at supporting smallholder and large scale farmers to significantly expand their agricultural productivity. In line with the agenda of the Federal Government, ArewaCotton’s mission is “Building Global Confidence in Nigerian Cotton”, via a Public Private Partnership agreement with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) to develop a sustainable cotton value chain in the North Central & Southwest Regions of Nigeria.
ArewaCotton intends on achieving its mission by starting with the Southwest Region. The Working Agreement we have signed with Southwest NACOTAN Nigeria Limited, the business arm of NACOTAN Soutwest, will soon give rise to a comprehensive MOU which is aimed at enhancing the development of the Region’s cotton production potentials. This plan has directly led us to talks with various Southwest State Governments to enter into a joint venture partnership in each State. These planed partnerships will address the development of the cotton value chain in each State through the introduction of quality and quantity enhancement in all aspects of operations. All talks will be finalized before the end of 2013 in preparation for the 2014 cotton farming season.
With the recent delivery of a brand new state of art 280MT per day ginning plant, ArewaCotton is poised to deliver on its global mission to “Building Global Confidence in Nigerian Cotton”. This mission will also be aided through the creation of “Customer Delight” by Guaranteeing our cotton quality through the use of a High Volume Instrument (HVI) cotton testing machine.
